July 3, 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

                                          Register here!

[Rescheduled from 6/26 to 7/3 due to rain]  Admission is $5 per person to help cover cost and support the foundation.  Registration is limited to 20 guests per group, or 40 total guests.  This event is for ParkLands members only.  Not a member?  Join today!  https://www.parklandsfoundation.org/membership/

A rare chance for ParkLands members of all ages to explore nature under the cover of darkness. After a bonfire and s’mores, local biologists and educators will lead guests around Letcher Basin in search for the diverse life that becomes active at night.

Guests will split into two groups.  One group will take a short hike in search of owls, frogs, and bats using echolocation devices and calls, while the other group investigates a “light trap” designed to safely collect insects.  Groups then switch.

Special edition ParkLands glow-in-the-dark t-shirts will be for sale.  Participants will also leave with a stack of custom educational trading cards highlighting common nocturnal animals found at Letcher Basin:

Note!  The event will take place on mown trails that are uneven in places, so please no strollers.  As with all ParkLands preserves, dogs are not allowed at this event (learn more about our dog policy).
